The Triumph Of AJ Quartermaine
Chapter Thirty One
Jason.
The penthouse. Emily arrives at about 2pm Monday. She is announced by Johnny who stands sentinel at the door. Sonny and Jason are within.
"I hope I'm not coming at a bad time." Emily inquires looking at Sonny.
"No, what's up?" Jason asks.
"I have a present for you." Emily pulls out the photo album. All shots of AJ have been deleted but there're pictures of everyone else.
"May I?" Sonny asks. He takes the album and starts thumbing through it. He shows it to Jason. "Is this what you saw?" Jason nods
"But that wasn't all. Do you have the other photos, Emily?" Jason asks matter of factly.
Emily reaches in her pocket and brings out the folder that the developer had given her. "What you saw?"
"I tried to get a hold of Carly yesterday after I met you at church. But I didn't want to interfere with the party."
"Oh Jason."
"Where was Carly yesterday, I looked over at Bobbie's."
"She went riding with Lucas. That's why Lucas, Bobbie and Jerry are in the pictures too. They stayed to make the snowman for Michael after they got back."
"JERRY?! JERRY JACKS?" Sonny exclaims furious.
"Yeah, He's Bobbie's boyfriend." Emily looks over at Jason for a clue as to what is going on. Jason just shakes his head and shrugs.
Emily decides to cut to the chase. "I want you to find me a Harley."
"Excuse me?"
"I'm taking driving lessons now and as soon as I finish with those I want to learn to ride a motorcycle. And then I want you to help me find a Harley. I've got enough saved."
"You sure that you don't want to start with something that you don't mind getting some dings in?" Sonny inquires really hating the idea of a little girl on a big bad motorcycle.
"Jason bought me the helmet and the leathers so I have the safety gear. Now I need the motorcycle." Emily is adement.
"What brought this on?" Jason asks "I didn't even know that you were taking driving lessons. If I had known you were interested I would have taken you out driving myself."
"I had my first one today. AJ is insisting that Carly learn to drive. He doesn't want her to have to rely or be dependent on others for rides. And I started thinking about it. Grandfather does the same thing to me. Reggie is great but you know it's his way of knowing what I'm doing and who I'm with. I have to get some independance. Carly didn't want to learn on her own-- she's really scared, you know. So she dragged me into it. She did really well for her first day but I think that she gave the instructor some gray hair."
"I can't picture AJ with gray hair." Sonny comments.
"Oh AJ isn't teaching us. He is taking lessons too. The instructor is someone from ELQ corporate security. So he's giving lessons in not only driving but self defense from things like terrorists and kidnappers. Can you believe it the guy used to be Secret Service for President Bush. It is so cool. And the stories he tells were really out there. There was one other thing that I had to ask you." Emily bites her lip.
"What's that?"
"Can I keep taking Michael to church on Sundays? Carly says it's up to you since you get Michael every weekend."
"What did AJ say?"
"Nothing, I didn't ask him." Emily shrugs. "You get Michael every weekend, right? It's not up to AJ. He won't mind though, he's says that he would have picked me for Michael's godmother too." Emily looks at her watch. "I have to get home. Carly talked me into ditching today but that will all be for nothing if I'm not back to the mansion by three."
Sonny nods. "Johnny can drop you off... by the gates perhaps?"
"That would be great, Mr. Corinthos." Emily gives Jason a hug. "I'll let you know when I'm ready for bike lessons. And I'll see you on Sunday unless you are coming to the board meeting on Thursday?" Emily gives Jason a kiss before jaunting to the door. "Johnny, could you give me a lift home?" Johnny looks over to Sonny who nods. The door shuts behind Emily.
"I thought she was shy?" Sonny asks.
"She's been hanging around Carly." Jason smiles ruefully. "Did you hear all the *I wants*?"
"And you still think this is a good thing?" Sonny shakes his head.

The penthouse floor. Peeking out of the elevator, Carly checks to see that Johnny isn't at the door and knows that there is no way that Jason or Sonny would have gone anywhere without him. Sighing in relief, she walks over to Jason's penthouse and with a key lets herself in. Quickly not knowing how much time she has she goes to her room and starts to packing her bags. "HA, and AJ thought I was kidding when I told him I could get a degree in packing. Luckily most of the stuff hasn't been unpacked. I can be in and out of here in nothing flat!" Carly looks around her room. Checking if there's anything she missed or anything that she couldn't live without. Well there was-- but he was a little too big to pack in her suitcase. She slaps each box with labels printed up on AJ's printer; labels with her forwarding address at the Happy Family house. Gathering two suitcases of her clothes and necessary items she takes a last look around at the penthouse that she had decorated for her, Jason and Michael. Shaking her head, she sighs to herself, "Wall to wall was a mistake." Setting her bags down she opens the door and stops dead in her tracks.
"Hello Carly."
"Jason." Carly takes a step back. Jason takes in the suitcases at a glance.
"I take it that you didn't bring Michael with you?"
"No, and I have to leave; AJ is expecting me back." Carly replies nervously.
"AJ doesn't know you're here. He wanted me to forward your things. He never would have gone along with you coming over here to see me." Jason takes a step forward; Carly takes a step back. Jason shuts the door.
"Well that's the thing. I wasn't planning on seeing you. Where's Johnny? He wasn't at the door."
"Johnny took Emily home." Jason takes a step forward; Carly takes a step back. "You spent the day with her."
"You got a problem with that? Emily is Michael's Godmother. It's time we spent more time together." Carly starts getting defensive looking around her as Jason continues to advance on her position. Carly puts the couch between her and Jason.
"What did I tell you, Carly? Don't do anything stupid and if you do to tell me about it right away and I'll fix it." Jason moves around the couch.
"Will you just STOP IT! Just stay right there, okay? I can't think when you're stalking me." Carly takes a deep breath. "I haven't done anything stupid, okay? I did what had to be done. AJ KNEW!! And he's right if this goes to court we'll lose! He may not be able to prove that I drugged him and hauled him into a laundry cart but, BUT my shooting Tony is more than a matter of public record! And he may not be able to prove that you are mobbed up to your pretty blue eyes BUT your medical records and your reputation for having the best funeral plan/death benefit for your employees is becoming a matter of PUBLIC RECORD. We'd lose, Jason. And I won't be separated from my son."
"Then lets go away. Just you, me and Michael."
